Things to Do in Queenstown
Ski Season
Queenstown is pure inspiration. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, including a combination of sheer mountain ranges – covered in snow throughout the winter months – and the spectacular Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown position you within easy reach of ski resorts in Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.
Coronet Peak, just 25 minutes from bustling Queenstown is popular with both beginners and more advanced skiers and snow boarders. With a new base facility worth over $30 million, Coronet Peak offers spacious and high-tech facilities. From easy access ski and board equipment hire, to the secure day locker facilities, the team at Coronet Peak aim to minimize effort and maximize your time on the slopes.
The Remarkables are located approximately 45minutes from Queenstown and unlike Coronet Peak, its access road is less recommended – especially for those unaccustomed to driving in icy conditions – so many visitors take advantage of the regular buses heading up the slopes through the winter months. The base is more modest than the ultra-modern Coronet Peak, however the cafe provides a fantastic rest place with incredible views across the peaks. The Remarkables provides a wide range of skiing and board runs with some fantastically long runs for beginner-intermediate skiers/riders.
Queenstown itself is the perfect base after a long day on the slopes. Bustling with visitors from all around the world, shops, restaurants, and tour booking centres are open late into the night making for a vibrant atmosphere that tends to energise weary bodies.
With spectacular scenery, access to a range of ski slopes and other adventure activities, and a plethora of shops, restaurants, accommodation and tour booking facilities, Queenstown is the perfect base for your next ski or boarding holiday.
