Auckland

Auckland is located on the North Island of New Zealand and is a 45 minute drive from the Auckland international and domestic airports at Manukau City.

It is known as the 'City of Sails' and is New Zealand's largest city and home to major attractions, festivals and events.

Auckland also has a diverse range of dining options with restaurants, bars and cafes to suit all budgets. Taking a trip to the local markets is very popular, try the Browns Bay Sunday Market or Devonport Farmers Market.

Prefer some retail shopping? Shopping centers like Dress Smart offer a hundred stores and great discounts.

Auckland is surrounded by a vast array of landscapes with rainforests such as the Waitakere Ranges which will take you to waterfalls, streams and west coast beaches. There are a number of parks and reserves for the public to enjoy. A few of these include Awhitu Regional Park, Hunua Ranges Regional Park Waitakere Ranges Regional Park and Auckland Domain which is officially Auckland's oldest park. Volcanic cones are a unique landscape in Auckland and provide spectacular views. There are 48 volcanoes that can be seen across the region and Rangitoto Island is the most iconic with a superb location off the coast.

The west coast of Auckland is said to have some of the best surf beaches in New Zealand and is only a 40 minute drive from the city. Some of the main beaches to visit are Muriwai, Piha Te Henga – Bethells, Whatipu, Maori Bay, Cornwallis Beach and Karekare which is one of Auckland's most spectacular beaches.

There are plenty of other things to do and see. Why not try some of the air activities such as hang glinding or a helicopter tour. If you prefer to stay on the ground hop aboard the Auckland Explorer bus and take a tour around the city; travel 328 meters high to experience a spectacular view from the Auckland’s Sky Tower.

Auckland really does have it all: interesting history, wide ranging cultural, dining and entertainment scene, action-packed adventure activities, excellent shopping and magnificent scenery.
