The Entrance

The Entrance is a quiet beachside town at the entrance of Tuggerah Lakes. Only an hour and a half drive north of Sydney and just over an hour south of Newcastle, New South Wales, The Entrance is a very popular destination for holiday makers and offers singles, couples and families the perfect location to relax or enjoy many outdoor activities.

One of the most beautiful towns on the Central Coast, The Entrance fuses picture perfect natural surrounds with an easy beachside ambience and offers visitors the chance to experience Australia’s renowned laidback coastal culture at it’s very best.

One of The Entrance’s most popular local attractions is its huge resident pelican population. These majestic and inquisitive creatures share their unique style of high jinx in the feeding arena on a daily basis, a tailor built amphitheater in The Entrance Memorial Park which overlooks the picturesque Entrance Channel and serves as the perfect spot to take a seat ringside and watch the Pelicans in action.

The Entrance Lake is the ideal aquatic playground for visitors and locals alike to indulge in myriad water pursuits year round including water-skiing, canoeing, sailing, rowing and sailboarding. Fishing is also a most popular pastime and whether you are trawling for a feed of fresh prawns, hooking a snapper or fighting a flathead off the sandy shoals, The Entrance and its surrounding towns (including Terrigal and Ettalong) offers anglers of all abilities the chance to wet a line, have some fun and maybe even claim the catch of the day!

A visit to the Central Coast is usually underpinned by a visit to the region’s world-class beaches. From gentle bays and curious coves, perfect for beachcombing, to safe, patrolled swimming and surf beaches and the famous sea baths, The Entrance has something to suit every level of swimmer from beginner to the more experienced.

Most attractions are within an easy walk of the town centre including the beach, sea baths, coastal boardwalk, children's playground and park, plus a choice of undercover BBQs and picnic tables to enjoy. There is also Vera's Watergarden, the local shops, cafes and restaurants and weekend markets to ensure there is plenty to see and do. Tuggerah Lake is also not far away and presents as another pristine water playground for boaties and fisherman, with multiple boat ramps and several boat hire outlets for those that want to have a day out on the water too.

Join the locals for the Central Coast Country Music Festival. Held over three days on the second full weekend in March, the festival boasts a fantastic line up of country music performers and is one of the area’s most popular annual events. Held at Memorial Park, The Entrance, as well as other local venues within the Wyong Shire and Gosford City, most shows are free to attend. And with the popular Poet's Breakfast, Busking Competition, Line Dancing Displays, Stalls and Amusement Rides there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

In winter, Memorial Park, The Entrance is home to the Winter Blues and Jazz festival; another free event to please every taste in music offering a fantastic line up of local, emerging and established artists.
